Hey YOU! The one at the back of the pack of runners. Think you’re “too fat” to run, “too slow” to run, “too ____(fill in the blank)” to run? Then the 300 Pounds and Running Podcast is for you! Whether you’ve just started or need a fire lit under your ass to get you off that couch, I’ll share my best advice, inspiring stories, and running tips. Who am I? (Good question.) I’m Martinus Evans. I’m an RRCA run coach, author, and award-winning speaker. But more importantly I’m a big guy. Who runs. No…really. I’ve run 5k’s, 10k’s, half-marathons, and marathons! So I know your struggles. I know your hesitations. And I want to help you become a runner! So if you’re looking for a place to start your journey to better health, look no further. Let’s do this! Tekia Denwiddie is a mother, half marathoner, goal crusher and overall amazing person. Tekia decided to train for a half marathon after her son who is a patient at St. Jude encouraged her to do so.  Her journey was long and hard but she made it (she got lost in the middle of the race)! In this podcast Tekia talks to us about who she is, her relationship with running, and lastly she gives new runners advice to help them crush their goals. Five years ago, Derek was diagnosed with a prolactinoma this largely contributed to his weight gain. Weighing in around 625 lbs, at age 34, Derek decided to make a life change and lose weight. He started making healthier food choices but realized food alone will not do the trick, so he started walking. In an effort to give himself a goal in his walking, he has dedicated to completing a 5k) every month. In this podcast Derek talks to us about who he is, his evolving relationship with running/walking, her advice for dealing with haters/doubters and lastly she gives new runners advice to help them crush their goals.
